About Wingtra
Wingtra builds a professional aerial surveying and mapping system that tightly integrates a purpose-built drone, high-end sensors, high-precision GNSS positioning, and dedicated software in one connected workflow.
The company mission is to make professional-grade geospatial deliverables and aerial insights more accessible to teams with mixed levels of drone and surveying expertise, so that organizations can manage resources, infrastructure, and assets more effectively.
Our story and focus
Wingtra started as a robotics research project at the Autonomous Systems Lab at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. The early work focused on vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft and autonomous flight.
The team quickly saw that VTOL tailsitter drone technology could solve real inefficiencies in traditional surveying workflows while reducing points of failure. That insight became the company’s entire focus.
Today, the full research and development team works exclusively on drone solutions for surveying and mapping.
Adoption and real-world use
Land surveying
Hundreds of land surveying offices, civil engineering firms, drone service providers and universities also use Wingtra as part of their daily workflow.
Construction and infrastructure
Major construction companies, such as PCL Construction, Bechtel, CEMEX, Balfour Beatty and Kiewit, use Wingtra to track progress, calculate volumes, and manage complex sites.
Mining and metals
Leading mining firms, including Rio Tinto, Barrick, Glencore and Newmont, rely on Wingtra for regular pit surveys, stockpile reconciliation, and safer site monitoring.
Goverment agencies
US State transportation agencies survey road networks with Wingtra, while the US Army Corps of Engineers repeatedly contracts sensitive projects to Wingtra customers.
