Wingtra and Sprava Informacnich Technologii mesta Plzne (SITMP) partner to supply VTOL drones in Czechia

Wingtra, the Swiss drone company that develops the first commercially successful VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) drone for surveying, has signed a reseller agreement with Sprava Informacnich Technologii mesta Plzne, a leading surveying equipment distributor based in Pilsen, Czechia.

“Here at Sprava Informacnich Technologii we are excited to continue growing and diversifying our business and product portfolio. WingtraOne’s exceptional VTOL technology differentiates it from competitors, we know that its capabilities will allow our clients to undertake projects that they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to in the past. Our industry experience and excellent customer support will ensure that Wingtra customers in the region are well served and trained to use WingtraOne VTOL drones,” said Sprava Informacnich Technologii director, Luděk Šantora.

Speaking on the partnership, Wingtra sales manager, Terence Thiel said: “Our distributor Sprava Informacnich Technologii mesta Plzne has demonstrated for several years now that they are at the forefront of developing the civil drone industry in Czechia. They have partnered with local authorities and businesses to support urban planning, agriculture, bridge inspection, and civil service projects. This allows them to support our mutual customers across Czechia.”

WingtraOne takes off and lands like a multicopter, but flies in the air as a fixed-wing aircraft. This technology eliminates the risk of damaging the aircraft while landing, lets the drone carry heavier and thus better sensors (e.g. 42MP Sony RX1RII) and still allows mapping of large areas.

The new post-processed kinematics (PPK) upgrade allows the WingtraOne to reach new levels of accuracy. With the highest quality sensors—the Sony RX1RII and state-of-the-art PPK system—WingtraOne reaches accuracy down to 1 cm (0.4 in) without any ground control points.

Founded in 1998, SITMP provides municipalities with ICT, talent development and business inspiration in the form of startup support in robotics, drones, AI and VR/AR services. The Drony SIT division of SITMP focuses solely on UAV technology, namely R&D. Using drones it supports municipalities by providing services such as bridge inspections, forestry analysis, photogrammetry, and SaR, etc.

Wingtra and Pix4Dmatic integration brings 2x faster orthomosaic and point cloud generation

Wingtra’s recent WingtraHub 1.0 release has launched to fully support a lean workflow between the WingtraOne drone and Pix4Dmatic, a fresh Pix4D product for reliable speedy processing of large datasets. This integration is especially key since Wingtra’s VTOL drone is designed to map large sites fast and safely while providing the best possible data quality. The high-quality datasets that result can now be processed into point clouds and orthomosaics at twice the speed on average with Pix4Dmatic.
