Capturing survey data with drones has become faster and easier than ever. But the error-prone technical steps before and after still present headaches to professionals. Wingtra has already pioneered an end-to-end solution to cut these steps. Now, it’s teaming up with premiere ground-survey manufacturer Trimble to roll out integrations that will bring end-to-end benefits to its customers. This joint solution will see a rollout of updates that cut error-prone manual tasks and promote easier adoption of a modern, safe and efficient survey solution.
“Trimble is a giant in the survey industry,” said Max Boosfeld, CEO at Wingtra, “so we’re incredibly excited to collaborate together and offer an integration of the most reliable, efficient drone survey solution on the market with gold-standard survey tools professionals around the world have been turning to for years. From now on, the integration of these systems will grow closer, bringing exciting updates along each step to Trimble and Wingtra customers.”
More automation, less tech hurdles: JXL and TO2/TO4 support
Phase one of the Trimble collaboration kicks off with two integrations that slash time and manual steps while reducing the opportunity for errors. All of this supports easier integration and adoption of the solutions together.
JXL file support
For Trimble users working with Trimble Business Center (TBC) .JXL files and custom coordinates, the .JXL files require manual file transformation and applying certain parameters to use in other software. This takes time and is error-prone.
With this new integration, customers can export their .JXL files, and drag and drop them into WingtraCLOUD, which will automatically adjust them to the right coordinate system.
Support for T02 and T04 files
Trimble base stations generate raw satellite location information in the form of T02/T04 files. The use of these files in WingtraCLOUD required a toolchain step to convert them into RINEX files. This has now become a direct drag-and-drop of T02/T04 files into WingtraCLOUD without any extra steps and time lost.
Only the beginning of easier, bullet-proof drone survey workflows
All of the above is available right now. In 2026, Trimble and Wingtra are working on an integration to remove the complexity of the base station.
Instead of waiting on a logging base station, customers can hit the site, set up their checkpoints and run their flight with an onboard PPK receiver. After the flight, data will be corrected with Trimble RTX as a backup to ensure the highest accuracy corrections.
“You’ll be able to basically go on site, set up your targets, set up your drone and let Wingtra and Trimble take care of the rest,” said André Becker, Senior Product manager at Wingtra. “This is all happening in the first six months of a partnership, so you have to imagine you’ll get more and more premium-quality automation as time goes on.”
Current and future Trimble integrations are available with Wingtra PRO and Wingtra Unlimited software licenses.
