Wingtra joins the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS)

An 86 year-old non-profit scientific association with more than 7,000 members worldwide, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is now as relevant as ever in the emerging age of professional drone technology. The society focuses on advancing knowledge and understanding around mapping sciences, while promoting responsible application of photogrammetry, remote sensing, GIS and supporting technologies. Wingtra has joined its Sustaining Members Council and is excited for the opportunities this decision holds.

“ASPRS is known for its rich history of professionalism in the realm of remote sensing, particularly when it comes to accuracy standards,” said Trent Casi, Wingtra Sales Manager. “It’s an honor to be a member of this organization, and we are excited about the practical advantages we’ll all share as we exchange knowledge and work together to advance the field of UAS technology.”

The WingtraOne leads the professional drone industry in high-accuracy data capture over large areas in even the most challenging environments. This is due to its VTOL tailsitter design, high-end payloads and well-engineered workflows. As its customers push it to the limit of its capabilities—reporting success across a range of use cases—Wingtra engineers work steadily to continue advancing its capabilities and bolstering its reliability.

A US-based society founded in 1934, ASPRS enjoys a long legacy yet is keen on keeping relevant and advanced in its information sharing goals. It’s been ahead of the curve on improvements to location data quality. Particularly, in 1998, the society incorporated the tagline “The Imaging and Geospatial Society,” as part of its identity. The tagline decision anticipated big change and aimed to include stakeholders of the future, particularly those who extract insights from higher-accuracy data (collected more and more regularly by drones) that supports context-rich decision making across industries.

“We would like to welcome Wingtra to the ASPRS family,” said Joe Cantz, chairman of the ASPRS Corporate Members Council. “We are glad to have you as a part of our Sustaining Members Council (SMC) and are looking forward to working with your team as you grow. SMC members are critical to our success as an organization, and we all appreciate Wingtra joining us in this capacity.”

ASPRS members work in the disciplines of the mapping sciences, across the following sectors: agriculture, soils, archeology, biology, cartography, ecology, environment, forestry, range geodesy, geography, geology, hydrology, water, resources, land appraisal, real estate, medicine, transportation and urban planning/development.
